Chance Arts Website Redevelopment
Chance Arts (legal name Chance for Children Trust) is a London-based childrens charity offering Creative Arts Therapy. Chance Arts is a very small charity, with only two permanent members of a staff, a board of trustees and a number of self-employed therapists.
They approached me in January 2024 to support them in building a new website that they could easily edit with minimal training.
The Scope
-
The charity wanted their website to be a place to showcase what they do and explain their story to potential funders.
-
The charity wanted a more interesting and inviting looking website, that still communicated what they do.
The charity had no formal brand guidelines, and was happy for brand colours and fonts to be established, as well refreshing their logo.
-
The charity has no formal IT, Marketing or Communications department, so needed a website where a lay-person could easily edit text and images.
-
The custom HTML, as well as their domain was proving costly, so the charity were looking for a more cost effective solution.
This meant switching their domain for both email and the website, finding a new host for the website, and explaining the pros and cons of website packages to the client.
The Original Website
The original website was built with custom HTML, and hadn’t been updated for a number of years
Brand
A refreshed logo, brand colours and brand fonts needed to be developed and approved.
Domain
A new domain needed to be bought, and new email domain set up. I guided the charity through this process.
Copy
The charity provided their own written copy, however this needed to be formatted in a reader and seo-friendly way.
Images
The charity had no images that they could use on the website, so appropriate stock images had to be sought.
The Work
Functionality
Basic UX and SEO principles had to be included in the functionality of the website. The charity also needed to have some basic documents available to download, a basic contact form and a form for prospective trustees.
Training
Training was provided to the company director, a trustee and one of their therapists.
